The Mid-City Early Learning Center (MCELC) is a State of Louisiana licensed Type I daycare facility conveniently located in the heart of Mid-City on Canal Street and is easily accessible by streetcar.

Our center opened in 2016 and provides quality, affordable child-care for children from 6 weeks

through pre-K3. We offer only full-time childcare

Monday through Friday from

7:30 am to 5:30 pm throughout the year.

Our program carries out the mission of the adjacent Canal Street Church: A Mosaic Community by creating an environment for young children where they are highly valued, their individuality is celebrated, their faith is fostered, and relationships are built. In our relationship with Canal Street Church, we incorporate weekly children's Bible stories for all classes and teach a common table prayer for pre-K3 children.

MCELC offers newborn, infant, toddler, and pre-K3 classes to accommodate our students as they grow and develop from infancy into preparation for entering pre-K4. Each class’s lesson plan is teacher-written in a creative fashion and assessed using the Creative Curriculum goals and objectives. Our Little Saints and Spectacular Streetcars classrooms utilize the "Frog Street" curriculum in conjunction with Creative Curriculum. Additionally, we have designed a secure outdoor playground where all children can safely express themselves, whether it be riding tricycles, tossing balls, playing on the climber or play panels, eating snack, or performing on our stage.

We encourage parents to be engaged in their child’s classroom life! We are committed to keeping open and transparent lines of communication. Parent involvement can range from being a part of the Parent Advisory Board, a room parent or offering to volunteer for events throughout the year.

Canal Street Church: A Mosaic Community

Mid-City Early Learning Center is grateful for our relationship with  Canal Street Church: A Mosaic Community and is committed to carrying out their vision.

Canal Street Church: A Mosaic Community Vision: Our church seeks to be a community of Christ followers that initiates Christ-centered life transformation through the message and unity of the Gospel. As a community of believers, we value authentic worship, biblical integrity, meaningful relationships, gospel centered multiculturalism, and community engagement.
